Massimiliano received his training in both psychology (BSc and MSc, University of Padua Italy and PhD, University Paris Descartes France) and public health (MSc methodology and statistics, University Paris Sud).
He is currently a Marie-Curie postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Psychiatry, McGill University and the Research Unit on Children Psychosocial Maladjustment (GRIP) under the supervision of Dr. Marie-Claude Geoffroy and Dr. Gustavo Turecki.
Massimiliano’s research investigates the contribution of early-life factors and adversity to the risk of suicidal behavior in the lifespan. The objective of this research is to identify children that may be at higher risk of showing suicidal behavior later in life, and to understanding developmental pathways explaining such increased risk.
To this aim, Massimiliano’s research relies on different techniques such as epidemiological analyses conducted in large longitudinal cohorts, on meta-analytic studies, and on genetically informed studies.
