Examines the impact of child sexual abuse on adulthood personal income
Samantha Bouchard is a MA 2 student in the School/Applied Child Psychology program at McGill University under the supervision of Dr. Geoffroy and Dr. Langevin.
Her MA project uses the Quebec Longitudinal Study of Kindergarten Children to (a) examine the impact of child sexual abuse on adulthood financial outcomes and (b) examine the mediating effects of poor mental health. Her research aims to further our understanding on how sexual abuse before the age of 18 can have a lasting negative impact in terms of financial outcomes in mid-adulthood and allow us to better understand intermediary pathways.
She is currently support by the Quebec Network on Suicide, Mood Disorders and Associated Disorders (RQSHA). Her MA project was previously supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, Joseph-Armand Bombardier Graduate Master’s Scholarship (2020-2021) and by the Graduate Excellence Fellowship, McGill (2020 – 2021).
